We have a 50’ L x 20’ W x 11’ T 2022 model Duroair paint booth. This Duroair paint booth is retractable allowing us to use a bridge crane to position components inside. In addition to the ventilation in the paint booth, our painters are all equipped with 3M Versaflow helmets. These helmets are similar to astronaut helmets and pump clean air to the painter. To prepare metal for painting, we pressure wash everything with degreaser and then apply a phosphate wash to etch the steel. This allows for good primer and paint adhesion without the need for sandblasting. All our paint is single-stage, oil-based enamel, shot over a primer base coat. To apply coatings, we use an electrostatic spray gun. All metal to be painted is grounded to earth and a small turbine in the sprayer causes an electric charge to build in the paint. Due to the charge difference, this causes the paint to be drawn to the metal resulting in minimal overspray and even wrapping the paint around wires for complete coverage.
